ARF wins outstanding staff award
The pilot ARF Field School in 2022 was designed to increase the representation of diverse groups in the archaeological profession and succeeded in offering this training to 10 deserving students. The success of the Field School earned ARF staff a 2023 Chancellor’s Outstanding Staff Award, presented to individuals and teams who demonstrate exceptional initiative in contributing to the UC Berkeley campus community.

ARF participation at the 2023 Society for California Archaeology conference in Oakland California.
The ARF team presented a poster, participated in the forum "Public Archaeology of the San Francisco Bay Area" organized by Kari Jones, and co-hosted the Job Fair and Resumé tune-up event on Saturday, March 18 at CSUEB's Oakland Center Campus across the street from the conference.
Remembering Andy Stewart
We are saddened to share the news that Andrew Stewart, an ARF faculty affiliate and Emeritus Professor of History of Art and Classics, and a long-time member of AHMA, passed away at his home in Berkeley on Friday, January 13th, just days after receiving the Gold Medal Award for Distinguished Archaeological Achievement from the AIA. A full obituary will be shared shortly.
