The ARF GPR workshop takes place at UC Berkeley on Faculty Glade practice location or at a field site. The course is often taught by ARF Affiliate Dr. Scott Byram from Feature Consulting. Students learn to lay out a grid on the lawn and walk along guide tapes using either the drag handle or the stroller model GPR. The group then moves back to the ARF to discuss processing and interpreting the data.
The ARF GPR equipment including related literature are linked to our GPR equipment webpage. Students are advised to read Peter Leach's GSSI 2021 "Theory Primer and Field Guide for Archaeological, Cemetery, and Forensic Surveys With Ground-penetrating Radar" as well as the books by Larry Conyers in the ARF library.
