Area F: 1989

Excavation continued down in the squares opened in 1988. Our efforts were rewarded by the discovery of several rooms of a Roman house, with important small finds (fresco and molded stucco garland fragments, lamps and coins) and the remains of a water installation and cistern. More of the Persian-Hellenistic house chambers cut by the "Great Wall" was uncovered and the whole are was brought down almost to the level reach to the north in 1987. Another bit of good news was that most of Garstang's dump was removed.
