The “ARF Cave”: An ARF resource for archaeological visualization
ARF Brownbag
Speakers: Chris Hoffman, Research IT; Nico Tripcevich, Archaeological Research Facility
In this in-person ARF Brownbag, we will introduce the ARF community to a display system recently acquired from the Hearst Museum that consists of a 7' by 8' array of screens and a Windows 10 computer with sufficient GPU to drive these panels. We will introduce the system and describe research applications of this system which include display of 3D models of artifacts, 3D landscapes, Google Earth and GIS data viewing, and other archaeology-specific research uses such as Harris Matrix development and the development of virtual and augmented reality experiences. We invite the community to propose other research uses of this system.
