an Archaeologist, Episode 14: Job Opportunities in the Private Sector

Ask an Archaeologist is a series of live-streamed interviews co-hosted by the Archaeological Research Facility and the Phoebe A. Hearst Museum of Anthropology.
During each program, we will interview a UC Berkeley affiliated archaeologist and answer audience questions submitted during the live interview in the Youtube live chat field.

John Holson's experience in California archaeology dates to 1976 and has subsequently worked overseas and in the Pacific. He received his MA in Cultural Resources Management from Sonoma State University in 1991. John is a Principal and owner of Pacific Legacy which was started in 1994. In addition to his work with Pacific Legacy, he was worked with several professors at the University of California and has worked in the Pacific since 1995 with Dr. Patrick Kirch on several research projects. He is a Principal Investigator for projects ranging from small-scale reconnaissance efforts to multi-task, indefinite delivery order contracts. He has directed all aspects of cultural resources management projects for agencies such as the US Forest Service, National Park Service, US Army Corps of Engineers, California Department of Transportation, as well as private clients.

John is on the ARFutures board and manages the Berkeley Office of Pacific Legacy.
