As an anthropology Ph. D. candidate my research interests focus on long-term human-environmental interactions in agricultural landscapes. Using archaeological methods and ethnographic techniques, I study the cultural persistence and environmental resilience of the Zapotec people in Oaxaca, Mexico to better understand their traditional ecological and agricultural knowledge and learn about sustainable-resilient landscape management practices and food sovereignty. Other research interests are environmental archaeology, landscape archaeology, resilience practices, agroecology, traditional knowledge, and decolonial perspectives.
