Teaching archaeology remotely, challenges included replicating in-person, team/interactive experiences of the classroom while maintaining student engagement. I redesigned courses creating opportunities for remote student engagement, assessment, and collaboration.
Barb Voss has published two important papers (1) analyzing the problem of harassment in archaeology and (2) suggested remedies.

We hosted seven professionals from consulting firms in the western region and learned about opportunities for archaeologists in cultural resource management (CRM) with brief presentations from each panelist followed by a discussion on the state of consulting.

We are greatly saddened to report that Jean-Pierre Protzen, an ARF-affiliated faculty member and enthusiastic participant in the ARF community, passed away in Bern, Switzerland on January 10, 2021. His wife, Elsbeth, died a few days prior.

Introducing the Archaeology Centers Coalition
In response to urgent calls to address systemic racism in all spheres of institutional life, a group of archaeology centers based in the United States have come together to identify avenues for concrete change. Since July, center directors and representatives have been meeting via Zoom to consider ways to move archaeology forward towards greater diversity, equity, and inclusion.
