ARF participation at the 2023 Society for California Archaeology conference in Oakland California.
The ARF team presented a poster, participated in the forum "Public Archaeology of the San Francisco Bay Area" organized by Kari Jones, and co-hosted the Job Fair and Resumé tune-up event on Saturday, March 18 at CSUEB's Oakland Center Campus across the street from the conference.
We are saddened to share the news that Andrew Stewart, an ARF faculty affiliate and Emeritus Professor of History of Art and Classics, and a long-time member of AHMA, passed away at his home in Berkeley on Friday, January 13th, just days after receiving the Gold Medal Award for Distinguished Archaeological Achievement from the AIA. A full obituary will be shared shortly.

The ARF mourns the loss of ARF Research Associate Dr. Ira Jacknis.
Ira was a research anthropologist at the Phoebe A. Hearst Museum of Anthropology and a regular participant in ARF discussions particularly around museum science and the traditions of the Pacific Northwest. He was a generous scholar and he will be missed. A memorial posted by Ira's longtime collaborator Professor Regna Darnell has been shared by the History of Anthropology Review.
ARF Professor emeritus Stephen Miller has passed away at age 79 in Greece where he conducted archaeological research over many years. In addition to his research in the Peloponnese he is known for having worked to establish the modern international Nemean Games.
